<itunes:subtitle>A monthly excursion into the lower frequencies on Space Invader Radio</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>In a similar fashion to the world’s largest particle accelerator, the Colliderscope radio show releases massive amounts of energy on a regular basis.

Each month we plum the frequencies, stitching together several disparate elements to create an agreeable soundclash of pretty much anything with a bass-laden, steady groove.

Together we’ll travel through time, tapping the bleeding edge and more mature numbers alike. You can expect the tastiest hip-hop, D&B, dubstep, breaks, nu-funk and plenty more besides with very little chance of a black hole.

Somewhere near the middle of proceedings I shut it for approximately forty minutes and let someone else have a go on the wheels. It’s a guest mix, or medley if you like and I call this feature the Miaow Mix, which is a play on words.</itunes:summary>

November 2011 - with Freddy Fresh

Hello cheeky face, missed you last month. Sorry I wasn't here for the October show, it was high time for some much needed Colliderscope R&R with the rest of the GI's over there on Vung Tau beach. That might have been a dream as a result of re-reading Michael Herr's seminal Dispatches, though. In any event I wasn't here, so by way of recompense I humbly lay before you an absolute humdinger of a Colliderscope for November.

Sandwiched between the first and third chunks of the show (which, incidentally, are stuffed from asshole to elbow with fine bassline) and looking fit as a fiddle despite the crush is none other than Freddy Fresh!

I've been feeling the output from Fresh ever since the Drum Lesson EP came out back in '98, but your boy had been hitting his stride musically well before then. There's precious few DJs/producers on the scene with the kind of heritage brought forth by the Fresh. And even less who make music like he does - with an organic, hands on, whacked-out leftfield feel that sounds like it's been made rather than just produced. But hey, you were already sold a paragraph back, right?

As usual, either side of our guest I'll be hammering the tracks together whether they wanna go or not, to make a seemless two hours of Saturday night rug-cuttin' sweetness. Look out for a behemoth of a tune from Pretty Lights Music signing, Supervision, otherwise known as Richard Blake Hansen. Then there's an epic breaks stick stack stonker from Sonic Funk going by G Iz For Guitar, which you must not miss.

September 2011 with Jstar & DJ Guinness

Go shorty, it’s your birthday. We gonna party like it’s your birthday. Actually, it’s not your birthday, it’s mine. Or was, last week. But like Fifty ‘Fiddy’ Cent, I don’t give an eff’ it’s not actually my birthday. The point is we’re celebrating it and this celebration shall take the form of a Colliderscope Miaow Mix special.

So, with that in mind, this month I shall be keeping it booty duty and nu-phunk-with-a-p-to-tha-h while our guests get proper serious with some panel-rattling sub-bass.

First up on September’s show: the multi-talented, hardest working, reggae pummelling, cigar smokin’, tour manager-cum-producer-cum-gravel-throated-mc…ladies and germs, I bring you…JStar! Responsible for probably my all-time favourite mash-up, Regulate Rock, your boy takes time out from that busy festival to-and-fro to bring you bass, breaks and general low-end nuttiness in the name of Space Invader Radio.

Then I’ll do a bit of mixing…

And…as they say in Dude, Where’s My Car?…then…You know the drink, now meet the DJ…There-from-day-one Space Invader, D&B man about town (be it Brizzle, be it the LDN), the vinyl purist, the follically frugal, your man in the business (and business is good), Mr DJ Guinness! It’s been a good long time since I first asked the Guinness if he’d be interested in doing a mix for Colliderscope. I think he forgot. No matter, we have him locked for Saturday the tenth. For half an hour or so, you too can see how drum’n'bass is really done. Don’t (in the style of Horatio from CSI Miami) sleep.

Colliderscope August 2011 - with Rory Hoy

Summertime and the livin' is easy! Not. The silly season is most definitely upon us and Colliderscope is back once again like the renegade master, ready to enter your lug holes politely but firmly with a ripe and sweaty bunch of bangers for that balmy Saturday eve.

This month we're rolling in nicely with a batch of booty from artists diverse - Gramatik kicks us off with something from his excellent (and free) album Beats & Pieces (Coldcut: no relation), before we embark on a hip-hop heavy trip into breaks, bass and even a worthy Ibiza thoroughbred. Expect a couple from brilliant Kiwi breakbeat bon viveur, Funk Ferret along the way.

The latter third of the show will take on a (perhaps appropriately) much darker tone with the obligatory Obligatory Dubstep section; expect cerebral brappage (what?) from Guttstar, Bassbin Twins and a jovial offering from Dokkedal Dixen, before we kick it up a gear with some [insert air horn here] drum'n'bass.

As ever, the jewel in our belly button shall be the Miaow Mix and holy ferreting shiz balls...this month it's Rory Hoy on the decks! Here's a picture of the Hoy boy himself:

I'm ashamed to say that Rory only popped up on the Colliderscope radar fairly recently, so imagine my embarrassment when I read his rather impressive curriculum vitae. He's had numerous releases on a number of imprints including Skint and, personal hero of mine, Freddy Fresh's label Howlin' Records. He's also a film maker and has even shaken hands with Guy Ritchie, as he handed over an award for Rory's Autism and Me. New album Hands In The Sky is out on Howlin' come October.

Rory's done us proud with with the kind of mix we love on Colliderscope - a no holes barred party starter with a distinctly big beat revivalist theme. Don't miss it.

Colliderscope July 2011 with Freqnik & WDRE

Haul and pull up selecta! Or so the saying goes. Set your general demeanour to "Extra Excited", Colliderscope is back on Saturday and take it from me, baby, we are open for business.

Once again I've scoured the internet and the archives to make sure all bases are covered where genre is concerned. And by which I don't mean we'll be nodding our heads in quiet appreciation of a string quartet or going all prog rock on that shizzle - this is all about the b-line my fine friends.

This month on the Miaow Mix, ladies and gentlemen, put your effing hands together for Freqnik & WDRE. Out of New York, New York (which is in America, on the right), you'll have heard the producer & DJ duo frequently on Colliderscopes past and their hip-hop/jazz/funk/latin mash-ups have been blogged from Bagshot to the Bayou. Far from merely plundering rapapellas for a tasty hook, Freqnik & WDRE's tunes are more of a faithful homage to the original, lifting the entire rhyme, verse by verse and plonking it jigsaw-like into a track it was never intended for, but fits as if it was made for the job. I'm really chuffed to be able to bring you a good couple of handfuls of exactly this kind of groovable what not, all lovingly crafted especially for us on Colliderscope!

As far as the rest of the show goes...we'll kick things off in a hip hop stylee, then knock it up a gear with some choice nu-funk, breaks and bootiful cuts including a heavy, heavy remix from Neon Steve. In the latter third of the show there will be an opportunity to brock out on a drum'n'bass tip and have a pleasant 4/4 reminisce with Timo Maas before we go in hard for the final push towards the witching hour with the gloriously unsubtle wobble of the obligatory dubstep section.

Colliderscope 11/06/2011 - with Ewan Hoozami

I'll go to the foot of our stairs, is it really June already? Time Flies when you're an American straight edge hardcore punk band.Ewan Hoozami on some stairs First off, apologies for the extremely tardy nature of this colliderscupdate (given that the show is tomorrow an' all), got something pretty special in store this month and I wanted to make sure everything was 100% lest it all go sideways and I end up looking like a berk.

Colliderscope is back with a, well, not so much a vengence as very enthusiastically and I'm ecstatic to announce that Bristol's "vicar of funk", the brilliantly named Ewan Hoozami (pictured on a flight of stairs, right), is pitching up to the platters for June's Miaow Mix. The man like the Hoozami's doing big things at the moment, what with a new album forthcoming, burgeoning remix work, not to mention a punishing live schedule. And, if you've already caught one of his medleys, you'll know this is going to be a good'n. If you're a Hoozami virgin, I urge you to stick around and be deflowered. I love it when our guests on Colliderscope put their heart and soul into a mix and, to borrow a phrase from the hip hop community: word is born, Ewan has gone above and beyond. Expect a hearty feast of nu-funk/breaks for mains, garnished with a smattering of booty, before going completely beserk and losing it completely with a sumptuous, death by chocolate dubstep desert.*

Aside from our star turn, you've got me on the imaginary record players and doing talking too. Wheel be kicking of the show (see what I done there?) with classic, happy hip hop from Ugly Duckling, before getting down to it with booties and edits from JStar, W.D.R.E & Freqnik (keep eyes for these fellows on July's Colliderscope), totaLcULt and Calagad13, plus BadBoE on the remix for Danny Massure and much more besides. Keep your lug holes peeled for massive, massive new tuneage from Telephunken and Cut La Roc too!

Colliderscope 14th May 2011 - with Brandon Properly Chilled

Brace yourselves, brothers and sisters, for this Saturday Colliderscope shall once again come streaming through your living area with force equivalent to that of a herd of stampeding buffalo. Except instead of ruining the carpet, they're sweet smelling beasts that compliment your exceedingly good taste and know how to work a flush toilet.

I've been hard at it since we last spoke. And I've also been putting the show together. Got some premium tunage which I can't wait to share. Plenty of brand spankers but as always, never forgetting those that came before. Expect bass in size: XXL from Calverton, Sanxion, Break Science and Fresh, hip-hop from Kyle Rapps, booties from Jim Sharp, DJ Vapor, WDRE & Freqnik, what has to be re-edit of the year from Danny Massure and much largeness besides. And, hold up! Remember MC Fusion from Credit To The Nation? Well it looks like the teenage sensation is back back back, doing a track with Santero and getting all twisted out of shape with the man like the Stickybuds on the remix.

This month on the Miaow Mix we welcome, all the way from Albany, New York, which is in the USA, the laid back legend that is Properly Chilled, or more accurately, the lad that makes it all happen, Brandon. If you're a stranger to Properly Chilled, for crying out loud sleep no longer! The weekly Propercast is not to be missed.
